Storytelling (Ages 2 - 15)
Storytelling workshops are a malleable structure for presenting information, ideas and concepts, encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, enquiry, inclusion and collaboration. Drawing on the African practice of using the story as a conduit for entertainment, oral history and moral instruction, Abela’s storytelling workshops transpose some of the most popular folk tales of Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean for fresh, UK – based audiences. Led by poet, singer and drama therapist Constance Bell (MA), Storytelling workshops feature interactive performances with a percussive accompaniment. Each performance is followed by art, craft and movement sessions where participants are encouraged to recall key elements of the performance and use them as a basis for their own personal learning, reflection and development. |
